Everytime a blogger gets caught cheating, a Suzy Soro gets her wings...

Hi guys. So a certain blog that's not worth mentioning got caught cheating yesterday in WTOP's best blogger competition, so they had to wipe all the votes and start again fresh today. (And by the way: thanks a lot assholes. Like people don't already think bloggers are giant douchebags. Way to ruin it for the rest of us...) I hate to be That Girl on a day when I make fun of Those Girls, but if you voted yesterday, would you mind following this link and voting for us again? And if you didn't vote yesterday, would you mind following this link, choosing "2birds1blog" from the the box to the right of the article and clicking "vote"? THANKS, NEW BEST FRIEND!

And if not, hello, new enemy.

Lerve,
Meggles

(Also, please only vote once to keep things fair and square. Let's not be a Fairfax-style blog, shall we?)

Yeah it goes through. I think they did that so you won't get discouraged that you're not winning and spend all day hitting "vote" over and over again in your cubicle because you're an asshole from Fairfax.

Thanks for voting, Jenn!

Your blog is gay. FFX UG should have won.

You know, you should be happy that we outed ourselves on that issue. While we are not a blog, believe me, yours is not likely to win either.

Might be better to leave those stones uncast when you are standing on glass yourself "meggles". What, do you have 5 followers?

How pathetic is this?

"...life is embarrassing enough without having to publicly lose a local blog competition..."

Seriously?

Interesting too that your blog won - since your blog barely even talks about issues in the area. The 2nd and 3rd place sites at least appear to be based in the DC area due to their content. Seems like discussion of issues in our area are few.

Wow... Meggles I love all the anon posts from the angry blog non-winners.. All they are doing is bringing more traffic to YOUR blog. :) Get over it! Meg (along with TC/Abs) are beyond hysterical and keep a lot of us (near and far - I live/work in Boston) sane Monday through Friday. And wasn't the competition for "best local blog" - did it HAVE to surround only DC-based issues?? Hmmm?? I think jealousy is something we all learned not to give in to in the 4th grade, and that as always, the people that deserve to win will win. In that case, Meg/Chris/Abs, I hope you drink a shit-ton of Jager tonight and have a fabulous weekend knowing that your "gay" blog won even though "your blog barely even talks about issues in the area"... bhaha

INTRODUCTION

1. The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster
for the human race. They have greatly increased the life-expectancy of
those of us who live in "advanced" countries, but they have
destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected
human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological
suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have
inflicted severe damage on the natural world. The continued
development of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly
subject human beings to greater indignities and inflict greater damage
on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social
disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased
physical suffering even in "advanced" countries.

2. The industrial-technological system may survive or it may break
down. If it survives, it MAY eventually achieve a low level of
physical and psychological suffering, but only after passing through a
long and very painful period of adjustment and only at the cost of
permanently reducing human beings and many other living organisms to
engineered products and mere cogs in the social machine. Furthermore,
if the system survives, the consequences will be inevitable: There is
no way of reforming or modifying the system so as to prevent it from
depriving people of dignity and autonomy.

3. If the system breaks down the consequences will still be very
painful. But the bigger the system grows the more disastrous the
results of its breakdown will be, so if it is to break down it had
best break down sooner rather than later.

4. We therefore advocate a revolution against the industrial system.
This revolution may or may not make use of violence: it may be sudden
or it may be a relatively gradual process spanning a few decades. We
can't predict any of that. But we do outline in a very general way the
measures that those who hate the industrial system should take in
order to prepare the way for a revolution against that form of
society. This is not to be a POLITICAL revolution. Its object will be
to overthrow not governments but the economic and technological basis
of the present society.

5. In this article we give attention to only some of the negative
developments that have grown out of the industrial-technological
system. Other such developments we mention only briefly or ignore
altogether. This does not mean that we regard these other developments
as unimportant. For practical reasons we have to confine our
discussion to areas that have received insufficient public attention
or in which we have something new to say. For example, since there are
well-developed environmental and wilderness movements, we have written
very little about environmental degradation or the destruction of wild
nature, even though we consider these to be highly important.

Wow, Meg, I'm sorry that my nominating you guys ended up bringing all the hate to the blog.

To people who are coming here to hate on 2birds1blog, I'm from DC and what Meg and Tulane Chris do every day is make those of us who are 20-somethings feel like they aren't alone right now. A lot of us live in DC and the blog addresses everything from the Metro to AU to Meg's hatred of Virginia (though I live in Fairfax County, so I personally love Virginia). We have something that we can relate to as DC residents and/or as directionless individuals with college educations struggling to get by in a job market that disproportionately screws us over. So just because it's not about the Caps or about Petworth doesn't mean it's not about DC. It's about the people who live here and isn't that what makes a city in the first place?

LOL, "clout." Yes, the "hilarious" tripe about accents and how totally cool an MTV reality show is has "clout."

I recommend 2birds1blog starts selling t-shirts. That way, if I see someone wearing one, I know to avoid them like the plague.

And the more you fight through THEIR OWN BLOG'S COMMENT FORUM, the more comically pathetic you will be perceived.

Responding to shit talk is not "comically pathetic." You know what is "comically pathetic," though?

10.) Vomited into his/her own purse, fastened it shut and calmly put it on his/her lap like no one was the wiser.

19.) Actually purchased and is currently wearing SillyBandz.

20.) A Jonas Brothers song was their top jam "at a point not conveniently removed from the present."

That. That's comically pathetic.

SO continue breathing air into 2birds1blog, and please send more traffic to the site. More people should discover how awesome this blog is.

Because anybody gives a shit.

the only reason this blog won is because FU chose the shittiest blog to win after their dq. you didn't win anything, it was GIVEN to you. but keep patting yourself on the back.

Seriously, it's embarrassing to even read this 'country bunkin' Fairfax where?' website response...you're arguing about a local blog contest. No one gives a shit about your website outside of Fairfax VIRGINIA (I can't even believe you can argue seriously when you are defending a site in Virginia). Please get over yourself. And by Because anybody gives a shit. you mean you and all of your Pathetic posse?

And actually, yes, you are comically pathetic to continuously check back and comment on everyone talking about how big of a douche bag you are on a site that you hate?

Keep checkin'!

Wow, you're a better writer than the author of this blog.

You do realize, don't you that DC is not the center of the Universe? That there are 3x as many people outside of DC than there are -stupid enough- to live in DC?

Folks move out of the District for a reason.

High crime
Shitty schools
Archane laws
Taxation worse than Zimbabwe
Naziish traffic/parking enforcement
Marion Berry
The entire DC Council

The median household income for folks in "bumpkin" (and its bumpkin, not bunkin) is essentially double that of DC.

You shit smells much worse than you think - your homosexual boyfriend would tell you that but he's got his nose too far up your roommate's ass to be able to tell you.

Seriously, that's it? Please just stop Virginia...it's just heartbreaking at this point.

@ Well Well...you really shouldn't be correcting other people's spelling.

Nooooo!

Hate on the people who came here from Fairfax Underground all you want, but be kind to my Virginia! Fairfax is not podunk! It has more people than DC and is awesome. It's just the people who came here to post!

Focus your rage, 2b1b Army! Focus it! Do not lash out at my beloved Fairfax County with its high property taxes, horrible traffic problems, but its lovely public library system and shopping malls.

All salient and well-thought out points that a thinking adult might make. However, you cannot be one of those because you and your ilk continue to post in here, engaging in childlike arguments over the internet.

Oh yes, we can clearly see the superiority of FFXU with readership like this.

Eat a dick, FFXU. Go back to your shitty blog and your shitty NoVA roads.

Shit, I thought it was 2turds-1bloke. I was kinda hoping to see some guy eating 2 turds, but reading the topics discussed here gave me the same feeling.

Can you direct me to a blog where I can find out more about Zumba?

I just lobbied for a t-shirt on today's post, but I would gladly give it up to get rid of such sad jealous people. Sore losers are just so tacky (yes, I am from the South), and I hope you ignore it and enjoy your success. Bring on the "look at the idiot posting at midnight on a Friday"--I know my issues, anonymous asshole, what's your excuse? {insert passive aggressive smiley here:)} Keep up the great work!

You're so cool! I do not suppose I have read through a single thing like that before. So great to discover someone with original thoughts on this topic. Seriously.. many thanks for starting this up. This web site is one thing that is needed on the internet, someone with a little originality!
